Previously on Project Runway: The designers had to create an outfit tailored to the specific styles of the JustFab customer. The winning designer's look is being sold on JustFab.com
Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review. I just wanted to start out by saying that I absolutely love this challenge! The Project Runway Crew has worked so hard to bring us fans this amazing show for fourteen seasons. Without the crew, there would be no Project Runway. The crew 100% deserves some designer love! I think the annual "real women" challenge is so important. Project Runway is a platform for the designers to put their work out there. The "real women" challenge allows fans/customers with all different body types to see how the designer's aesthetics might look on them.
Challenge: The designers will be treating members of the Project Runway Crew to a custom outfit.
Thoughts In The Workroom: Raincoat? Unique. The outfit Ashley is wearing is so cute. This challenge is all about compromise. I am a bit confused about Candice's look. Kelly, I am expecting this to be amazing!
Guest Judge: Constance Zimmer, Shiri Appleby
Ashley: Ashley created a purple and patterned peplum top. The top featured a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. The top was all purple except for the peplum part which was a pink and white and purple pattern. The bottom was a pencil skirt with a little slit made out of the pattern. I agree with the judges that this look was filled with a lot of color. However, I think that it would have been fine if she had a natural color jacket to dim it down a bit. I also agree that the girl looked a bit short. Maybe a different shoe or a few inches off the skirt would have helped? The judges really did not love this look. Ashley felt the pressure this week.
Swapnil: Swapnil was in a tough situation this week. He ended up creating a light blue, long sleeve top with a V-neckline and a cape. He made a neoprene black skirt on the bottom. He finished off the look with a belt for her waist. Was it 100% Swapnil? No. With that said, I do not think that his model looked bad. I felt like after the first fitting, his model was put off by the experience and nether of them were very open to compromise. This was not Swapnil's challenge, which was a shame because the judges have been hard on him and he could have used a WOW moment this week.
Merline: Merline made a leather, tight skirt on the bottom. On the top, she had a black shirt with a grey vest with black detailing. This was probably the best overall makeover. Her model looked fabulous! Her new hair matched the rocker look perfectly. The judges loved this look and they were right. I agree with the comment that the vest really made the look. Merline really needed a WOW moment this week, and she made that happen.
Kelly: Kelly totally lived up to her standards. I thought last week's looks was my favorite all season, but this may have topped it. Kelly created an eggplant leather overall with a cute white tank top and a matching leather vest. It was so her model's style, yet still very Kelly. The model looked amazing and comfortable. Plus, this look could be worn by anyone...which is always a bonus. Kelly is on a very strong streak. I know I said something similar last week...but I am feeling like fashion week is in her future!
Candice: Candice's look was on the costume side. The top was a black leather halter with a sweetheart neckline and blue detailing. The bottom was a matching black leather, tight skirt. It also looked like she created a sheer black cape. The judges thought that this look was cheap and they questioned where the model would actually wear it. I felt that this look was very labored. Candice usually does not have a problem with construction, so that was a bit surprising.
Edmond: Edmond made a dramatic raincoat with a dress underneath. The top was a hand woven design through a grey, netted fabric. The skirt portion of the dress was black, had a flowy detail on the front and exposed zipper on the back. His model looked amazing. She looked very NYC. She also could have won the dress as a stand alone on a day that it was not raining (or the jacket with a different outfit). On that note, Heidi said that the two pieces clashed. I could see that, but hey, sometimes you just need a good rain jacket. Edmond has been going strong in this competition. I think that he is well on his way to fashion week.
I have a pretty good idea of who is going to fashion week this season. Comment down below and let me know who you think those three designers are going to be.
