Best Sustainable Brands of 2023

 Hey Fashionistas!

Recently, I have been trying to make better fashion/beauty choices for the environment so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. None of this is sponsored (although, if you're one of the brands I mentioned- hi and please feel free to reach out).

Garnier:

I wanted to start out with Garnier because they are not only an environmentally friendly brand but they are also my favorite beauty brand of all time. Garnier is a holy grail for me. I discovered this brand when they were featured on Project Runway many years ago and they completely changed my confidence. I use so many of their products on my hair: Mouse, Curl Cream, Hair Spray, Hair Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Conditioning Masks, etc.

Recently, I have switched from the traditional shampoo bottle to the shampoo bar and I am so glad that I did. I still get that Garnier glow to my hair while using less unnecessary plastics. Other Garner Fructis shampoo and conditioner bottles are made partly from recycled plastics and I always recycle the bottles when they are finished- so I don't feel as bad about my conditioner either. Finally, the brand is Cruelty Free by the Leaping Bunny Program AND almost completely vegan.

I promise I am not sponsored by this brand, I just really love their products and their commitment to preserving the planet.

Native:

Again, not sponsored by Native but just a brand I really love. Natural deodorants can be tough. It's a nice idea but honestly, so many of them just don't work. Besides my desire to choose more environmentally friendly products, I am allergic to nickel so I am always on the hunt for metal free products. As such, I have tried many natural deodorants over the years and I finally found one that is a game changer.

The Native deodorant pictured here was my initial purchase from the store- so it unfortunately is not plastic free. But I did discover the brand carries a plastic-free version of the product online which is so much better for the environment. In my opinion, taking the step to purchase from the Native website is a small extra step for a big environmental impact- so it's totally worth it and I intend to take this step next time I purchase.

The product pictured above is unscented, but for those who enjoy scented products, Native had a large variety of options- including festive ones for the holidays! Native also has come out with other products from body wash to skin care. I have not tried any of those yet but maybe in the future.

Shapeau:

I mentioned this brand in my last post but wanted to shout them out again. Sustainable fashion can mean reusing fabrics from the past, which is just what Shapeau does.

I got my beautiful sweatshirt from Jagged Edge Boutique in Haddon Township NJ and you can too! Each piece is one of a kind. I wear this sweatshirt all the time and it's very comfortable- certainly a new staple in my wardrobe.

That's all for now Fashionistas. This is a topic I am really passionate about, so I am sure there will be more posts like this in the future. Is there a sustainable brand that you love? Comment down below and I will give it a try.

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

The Prom Problem: Underwear (Clean)

Previously on the Prom Problem:  I talked about Bra's for Prom. All the special types that may be the best option for your dress. This Week: I thought that it would only be natural to talk about Underwear next. Underwear lines plague everyone at some point but prom is the last place that you want them to show up.Today we will be solving those nasty underwear lines.  I know that everyone has different opinions about sharing underwear secrets online because it is private I guess for some people, but honestly, I think that it is okay as long as your not doing anything inappropriate. I am just saying this to let you guys know that this post is totally clean so if your thinking "oh my gosh what is she going to show us?" Don't worry about it...you can keep reading. On that note, lets take a look at a few solutions to The Underwear Problem. Solution 1: Thongs I am going to talk about thongs first because I think that they are the most common solution for panty lines. ...

Special Post- Inner Beauty- The NJ Sharing Network

Hey guys! I have always intended for this blog to be totally dedicated to beauty and fashion, however, this post is going to be a bit different. Well, I mean, it does kind of fit because all the beauty on the outside does not matter if you are not a beautiful person on the inside (which I am sure that all of you are). Recently, my little sister (Linda) had a kidney transplant. She received her new kidney from an organization called the NJ Sharing Network. The NJ Sharing Network is an organization which connects donor families with recipients. I wanted to help give back to the organization that gave my little sister so much...so I created a team for their annual 5K run. My team is called Linda's Home Team. Last year, my team raised around $3000 dollars for the NJ Sharing Network. This year, we are hoping to surpass that. It would mean the world to me if you guys would follow the link below to my page and give a donation to my team. Every penny counts. I love all of my re...
