Obviously some fabrics are easier to work with than others. Today, I am going to talk about which fabrics that I think are great for a beginner and a few that I would wait to use until you get a bit of experience. Fabrics for Beginners: Fabrics that are hardy are the best to work with. Often, when you go to cut fabric, the fabric shrinks a bit from what you intended while your are cutting. This is because the cut removes some of the tension holding the fabric together. This occurs less in fabrics such as denim, leather, wool, polyester etc. The less stretchy the fabric, the better it is for a beginner.  It is easier to get started on these types of fabrics because you do not have to worry about figuring out how much bigger than actual size you have to cut something to allow for the shrink while you cut.
