Project Runway Season 12 9-12-13 Review!!

Hey guys!!! Another week, another runway. This week we really got to see the designers break out of their shells. Now that the numbers are getting down, we are able to get a much better view of each of their aesthetics and personalities! I know that the designers had a tough time with this challenge but I actually really liked it!! As always, this post may not correspond to the judges opinions and will NOT contain any spoilers!

Challenge: Make a day or night look for the modern southern woman. The winning look will be sold at Belk.

Ken: I am going to kick off today with the southern man of the season. Unfortunately, Ken just did not bring it this week. Ken made a flowy purple gown. I agree that I liked the color but some of the design was questionable. I actually liked the length and I loved the back! I also liked the idea of the seaming on the top. However, the seaming was just poorly done and the neck line was not cut great and it took a flattering dress and made it unflattering. I think that it was great that he strayed from the typical plaid...but I think he stayed away from it so much that to someone who does not live in the south, it did not read southern at all. I totally understand his idea of staying away from the stereotype, but he really needed to add one classic southern thing. Maybe even boots or jewelry or something and keep it out of the design of the dress.

Helen: Helen's look was my personal favorite! Actually, this dress may be my favorite dress of the season! For me, that's a lot to say because I do NOT like anything yellow and her dress was yellow based with a white floral overlay. I think that the florals added that pop of southern to the garment that Ken's outfit was missing. I loved her silhouette and how she did not go little house on the prary!! The cut was basically like a Brandy Neville crop top but all the way to the floor and a mermaid bottom. It was so well made and just looked absolutely perfect! I was worried about Helen for a good while this season, but she has really stepped it up a notch lately and I think it is safe to predict that she will be in the top 3!

Dom: Another southern sweetheart hit the rocks this week. I was surprised with Dom's decision this week. She has been safe for a while so she decided to strip it down to the basics in hopes to make it into the top...I would think that if she wanted to impress she would have turned it up not down no? Anyway, her outfit was decent but it was just too common for the judges..and too common for her aesthetic! Dom made a green short sleeve topped dress with a long blue bottom. I liked the necklace that she pared it with and honestly, it was not bad it was just not up to her standards. Disregarding this week (I mean, everyone has little oopses here and there) I think it is also safe to predict that Dom will be in the final 3! She has been very consistent with her garments this season and most of the time she delivers.

Brandon: Okay I liked this dress for the most part. Brandon made a high low checkered dress. Was it modern? yes. Was it southern? classically so. And it was very very well made! I think that this was another good look produced by Brandon. My only critique of this dress was that it had a panel in the front of the skirt that just appeared a bit stiff to me. However, overall, this dress looked fabulous on the runway and I think would look great in a magazine! I also think that Brandon's dress would look great on several different body types and that is a key element to success in the world of fashion (especially when the prize of the challenge is getting your look sold online at Belk).

Alexandria: oh boy do we have a nightmare here. To be honest, I love the stereotypical Oklahoma the Musical southern girl dress! I really do. This dress looked as if it was so post to be that styling. However, instead of going for it, Alexandria did not bone or corset the dress and gave the model a brown belt instead. This dress just looked sad to me. It looked like a first attempt to mimic that Oklahoma dress. I feel like she would have had a great dress if she had boned or corseted. Personally, this dress would have gotten the womp womp from me because it was the only one that looked poorly made this week.

Alexander: I loved Alexander's look this week! He was deff a close second for me! Alexander made a pladdish dress that was fitted in the waist, sleeveless and high low. The dress also had a lot of volume in the skirt which gave it that country vibe without it being overkill. I also liked his choice in plaid because it was a bit different that the usual plaid and it really adhered to the modern aspect of the dress. I think that he did a really REALLY great job with this look. I would 100% wear this! I also think that for a young audience, this dress is very appealing for formal events!! The dress kind of reminded me of the Jessica McKlintock that I purchased for my Bat Mitzvah. I do not know what girl would not want to wear Alexander's creation this week!

Kate: I liked Kate's outfit this week, I really did. Kate made an orange dress with maroon polka dots and a maroon mesh back. I get where she was going with it and I think she went in a great direction. The only thing that bothered me was that the dots on the front were arranged in such a way that they sorta pointed to the boob area. I think that it would have been a tad more elegant if she had done the mesh in the front and the Dot pattern on the back of the top half of her garment. But all the same, I think that she did a solid job this week. I am glad she got a second change this season. She is delivering in a much bigger way than she did last time around.

Justin: Justin made an orange dress that kinda reminded me of the orange dress that Joshua McKinley made season 9. However, it didn't have the chain strap or the elegance that came with it. I don't think that this was a bad dress, I just think that it needed a bit of ump in either the design or in the styling. I am not sure about Justin's future on this show because he seems to fade into the background quite frequently. So close but so far away. I hope we get to see a new side of him soon! It is never too late to bring it!

Jeremy: I think that there is a huge market for the kind of clothing that Jeremy makes. However, I do not think that this show is marketing his brand. Jeremy's eye is very old. Not old as in elderly, but old as in he makes clothing for a middle aged woman. While his printed a line dress was southern, and his blazer was stunning, it just did not feel young and fresh. Since this challenge in particular wanted a modern twist on an old style, this was a bit of a problem for him this week. Jeremy did a fabulous job of creating a southern dress...it just was not modern.

Now, normally, I would say that's a wrap...but never does a season go by without a bit of a TWIST! That's right, Heidi sent three designers back into the work room to change up their looks a bit. The designers, and a helper of his or her choice, got sent back into the work room to either mend the articles or make a new constitution.

Dom: Dom chose to make something new. She had bought a print that she did not use and the judges nipped her for being bland. She decided to go with her other design incorporating a black and white pattern. What this girl made in an hour is exactly why she should be in the final three. This relaxed dress had gorgeous detailing in the back, was high low and walked the runway beautifully. There is nothing this dress is not perfect for and if she had created this the first time, she would have won this week in my eyes.

Ken: Ken chose to change up his original design but not make something from scratch. He cut the dress very very short and made it body con and added a flowy sleeve. Personally, I liked his original dress better. I just don't think this looked southern at all. Also, it looked like he was pinning it together as she was headed back-runway sooooooo......

Jeremy: I really liked Jeremy's remake. I think that the new print that he used was very southern and the cutof the dress was flattering. The only thing that really got me caught up here was that he made a very very simple dress in one hour where both Dom and Ken did something a bit more industrious. Despite that, I think that his remake was such an improvement in the modern category!!

Phew. Now I a finally safe to say that's a wrap!! Head on over to lifetime's website and check out this weeks episode if you have not seen it and I will be back with another review next week!

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

The Prom Problem: Underwear (Clean)

Previously on the Prom Problem:  I talked about Bra's for Prom. All the special types that may be the best option for your dress. This Week: I thought that it would only be natural to talk about Underwear next. Underwear lines plague everyone at some point but prom is the last place that you want them to show up.Today we will be solving those nasty underwear lines.  I know that everyone has different opinions about sharing underwear secrets online because it is private I guess for some people, but honestly, I think that it is okay as long as your not doing anything inappropriate. I am just saying this to let you guys know that this post is totally clean so if your thinking "oh my gosh what is she going to show us?" Don't worry about it...you can keep reading. On that note, lets take a look at a few solutions to The Underwear Problem. Solution 1: Thongs I am going to talk about thongs first because I think that they are the most common solution for panty lines. ...

Special Post- Inner Beauty- The NJ Sharing Network

Hey guys! I have always intended for this blog to be totally dedicated to beauty and fashion, however, this post is going to be a bit different. Well, I mean, it does kind of fit because all the beauty on the outside does not matter if you are not a beautiful person on the inside (which I am sure that all of you are). Recently, my little sister (Linda) had a kidney transplant. She received her new kidney from an organization called the NJ Sharing Network. The NJ Sharing Network is an organization which connects donor families with recipients. I wanted to help give back to the organization that gave my little sister so much...so I created a team for their annual 5K run. My team is called Linda's Home Team. Last year, my team raised around $3000 dollars for the NJ Sharing Network. This year, we are hoping to surpass that. It would mean the world to me if you guys would follow the link below to my page and give a donation to my team. Every penny counts. I love all of my re...
