Project Runway 10-1-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers created a look inspired by Neverland on Broadway.

Hey guys! I hope you are having a good week! I do not have much to say for today's intro, so lets just jump right into the post.

Challenge: The designers had to design an outfit that matches one of Just Fab's customer styles.  Candice won last week, so she had first pick and got to assign the other designers which style they had to design. The different styles were Trendsetter, Bombshell, Girl Next Door, Modern Classic and Femme Nouveau. The winner of this challenge has their design produced and sold by Just Fab.

Thoughts In The Workroom: I'm interested to see what Edmond does what that black and red fabric. Kelly's choice of fabric is awesome! She has really brought her "A" game these past few challenges. Swapnil needs to watch an episode of KUWTK. Ashley's jacket is very cute. I think Candice did a good job assigning the styles to the designers. Laurie! Fool me twice.

Twist: Each designer must create a label for their look and print it on a T-Shirt which they will be wearing to the Runway show.

Gust Judge: Ciara, and the Fashion Director for Just Fab

Ashley (Girl Next Door): Ashley made an Ashley classic. She made a crop top and matching full short skirt with a leather jacket. The two piece was a pink, blue and white pastel pattern and the jacket was a gold fake leather (but you would never know it). She styled it with a classy black purse and  a dainty necklace. This look was 100% girl next door. I know so many  young girls who would wear this look. This was probably my second favorite look this week. It was so cute and so girl next door, and so Just Fab.

Swapnil (Bombshell): Swapnil made a floor length cheetah print gown with a high neck and an open back. The back featured white strapping and a gold detail on the butt. He also added a white shall. You could tell that he struggled with the back. The judges were not all fans of the jacket, but I really liked it. I thought that the shall was very unique and looked great on the runway. The dress I thought looked okay from the front, and okay from the back, but the back and front did not match. It would have looked a bit more cohesive if the strapping had been in black.

Laurie (Modern Classic): Pasties 2.0? Laurie made a black halter top with an open back...but you could still see the model's pasties. She also made a tight, bright blue skirt with a slit up the back.

Merline (Femme Nouveau): Merline made an all white outfit. The shoulders featured a mesh detailing. I feel like interesting shoulders have become Merline's thing. The skirt had a lot of volume in the hip area and had an a-symmetrical hem. This outfit was not finished on the bottom.  I feel like she had the right idea, this dress just did not turn out exactly as she had hoped for.

Candice (Trendsetter)Candice has had a few very strong weeks and has deff showed herself as a strong contender this season. This week, she made a black long sleeve with a black and white knotted scarf. The judges did not love the scarf, but I thought it was cute. The shirt as a stand alone, I would totally buy. However, on the bottom, Candice made a black tiered skirt. The skirt was a bit too pirate for me. However, the sewing was very well done.

Edmond (Bombshell): Edmond made a tight red dress with strapping at the top.  Edmond completely embodied the style of bombshell. It was hot, and it was something that a lot of girls would wear. The snake skin shoes and the gold armband cuff really added to this look. Sexy, and perfect for his style and his challenge. Edmond hit the nail on the head. Comment down below if you agree, but something about Edmond and his designs remind me about Emilo from season eight (in a good way).

Kelly (Trendsetter): Kelly made a two piece pant and crop top out of two different patterns. One of the patterns she described as stain glass, and the other pattern was black and white stripes. She also made a blue furry vest. The outfit was styled with a yellow purse. The judges were very split on this look. Some of them liked it, others hated it. The critique of this look was that it was a bit junior. I loved this look! I would wear this any day. This is probably my favorite design so far this season. This look makes a statement, and I can just imagine young girls feeling very confident in this look. If Kelly keeps it up, she is absolutely going to be going to fashion week!

Okay that's it for this week's review! Tune in next week to see the designers give members of the Project Runway crew a makeover!! (P.S Such an awesome challenge!!)

  1. I'm afraid that the three main judges are getting too old and maybe too wealthy to focus on the JustFab customer. I agree that Kelly had that zeroed in. My thought was that it read too athletic, to me, which would have made it more appropriate for Kate Hudson's JustFabeletics line.

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

Is The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Worth the Hype?

Hey Fashionista's! Today we are going to talk all about Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skincare line. This is not sponsored, I just really wanted to talk about these products. This semester in my public speaking class, I taught a unit all about persuasive speaking. My goal was to make the topic of persuasive speaking more relatable by showing how prevalent it is in our modern world. What was the product I brought in to show the power of persuasive speaking in the "influencer era"? You bet it was the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment. If you are a longtime reader, you know I rarely talk about skin care. Actually, I have probably never talked about skin care. That's because I don't really know what to say. I don't ever buy the trendy products because I am allergic to so many of them and if not, they make me break out. BUT Hailey Bieber got me- talk about effective persuasive speaking. I watched a few videos on YouTube of her using the products and talking about their ing...

Best Sustainable Brands of 2023

Hey Fashionistas! Recently, I have been trying to make better fashion/beauty choices for the environment so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. None of this is sponsored (although, if you're one of the brands I mentioned- hi and please feel free to reach out). Garnier: I wanted to start out with Garnier because they are not only an environmentally friendly brand but they are also my favorite beauty brand of all time. Garnier is a holy grail for me. I discovered this brand when they were featured on Project Runway many years ago and they completely changed my confidence. I use so many of their products on my hair: Mouse, Curl Cream, Hair Spray, Hair Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Conditioning Masks, etc.  Recently, I have switched from the traditional shampoo bottle to the shampoo bar and I am so glad that I did. I still get that Garnier glow to my hair while using less unnecessary plastics. Other Garner Fructis shampoo and conditioner bottles are made partly fr...
