Project Runway Season 12 Review 8-8-13

Hey Guys!! First off I just want to say sorry for the lack of posts and not getting up last weeks review. I originally thought that I would be able to get up more posts in the summer but my job has just been crazier than usual and I let things slip a bit here but I missed it so much and I am going to try my best to blog every other day for the rest of the month. Now, onto our Project Runway discussion. As usual, this post will not contain any spoilers in case you have not seen the show yet. To that effect, you can head on over to lifetime's website and catch up if you did not get to see this weeks episode (and you should because it was a good one!) Also, the opinions on this blog are my own and may or may not correspond with the judges opinions. With all that said....lets get started!

Challenge: This week the designers had to incorporate bow ties into their garments.

Alexander: This outfit was middle of the pack for me. Alexander made a black jump suite with the bow ties flattened around the neck in ROYJGBP order. I liked the idea of doing a jump suite and I also think that it was really well made. However, the bow ties looked like a jester bib. I get what he was going for but the whole look just came out a bit to costumy I think. Maybe if he had stuck to one color like blue or purple and done the bib it would have looked more like high  fashion aven Gard than like the joker in a deck of cards. Although I was not the biggest fan of Alexander's look....I did not think that it was the worst one that went down the runway this week.

Alexandria: Alexandria's dress was on the bottom of my list this week. I really do not think that it embodied the challenge in any way. She used white, gray and black to make a run of the mill dress with the bow tie incorporated as an outline. The bow tie should have been the main focus of this look rather than almost invisible. Honestly, if she was not going to use the bow tie very much...her look should have been out of this world amazing and to me it looked like every other high low dress in the mall. In addition, the color sckeem of the dress did not help at all. If I was Alexandria...I would be stepping up my game a lot next week.

Brandon: Brandon's look was one of my favorites this week!! This challenge Incorporated the idea of same sex marriage and that meant a lot to Brandon who ended up proposing to his partner on the show. On that note...congratulations Brandon!!! Now back to the fashion. He made a flattering, well made crop top completely out of the bow ties!! This top was trendy and looked amazing!! Like seriously any girl would love that bralette! On the bottom, he made a pair of what looked like wool shorts which were well made and fit well on the model. He also used the fabric from the shorts to make a stunning blazer. Brandon has emerged at the top of the pack so far to me. I think that we are going to be seeing a lot of him this season.

Dom: This dress was another middle of the pack dress for me. Dom made a black and white striped dress with stripped bow ties along the neck line. She chose stripes because of the marriage equality sign. I really like her concept and I especially like that she had a concept. Having a concept makes everything better because it adds dimension and shows that the designer is really thinking. So hat's off to her for that. This dress reminds me of Alexander's jump suite in the sense that it just came off a bit too costumy. She deff was going in the right direction...I just wish that the final product came out a bit better.

Helen: Okay here we go. I work at a day camp as the dance specialist and at the end of the summer all of the kids perform a song and a dance number and this year we are costuming one group like Mario Cart and this dress reminded me of my kiddies shirts. She made a tan dress and had blue suspender looking thingies out of the bow ties. This dress just looked crafty. It was neither particularly well made nor well thought out and really landed Helen at the bottom this week.

Jeremy: I really liked Jeremy's look. On the show, he mentioned that his grandmother had passed away and this garment was inspired in part by her style. I thought that his orange lack jacket with the bow tie panels was stunning. The judges critiqued this as old but that is what he was going for so I wish that they had listened to him a bit more on this one. I also liked the brown pants with the zipper detailing at the bottom. Were they the best made pants in the world?? No. But the idea was good and they were certainly not bad. Overall, I disagree with the judges on this one and say that Jeremy had a good week.

Justin: Here is a disaster to me. I really did not go for Justin's look this week. Sorry buddy. He tried to use the shape of a bow tie in the dress and all he ended up doing was highlighting the bad parts of the body. The silhouette that he tried to create with the bow tie within the dress made it look like he was trying to paint a perfect barbie figure onto a model..now that girl is probs as close to barbie as you get but this silhouette still made her look heavy. Not attractive at all. I really was not a fan of this is it was not flattering, the colors were not spicy, and the bow tie was barley used.

Karen: Karen's outfit was okay. She made a women's Men's looking outfit with the white top, black pants and an untied bow tie. I think that this is what was expected from this challenge. I really do not think that it looked bad or that it was poorly made. However, it just seemed to expected to me. This look just was not original enough for Project Runway in my opinion.

Kate: First off I just want to say that I am so happy that Kate is coming back strong because she needed to. On that note, I am shocked at the level of talent she has that we did not see last season while she was on Teams. That just goes to show why Project Runway is an individual sport. This week, Kate's look was by far my favorite. She used brown leather to make a peplum flowy top with the bow tie on the top and she used the bow tie shape to make pants out of part leather part something else. I really loved this look! Like i would wear this in a heart beat. It was flattering, well made, used the bow tie and it was her second pair of pants ever. This look was really just everything in my opinion and I loved it!!

Ken: Ken's look was eh. It was a black dress with a white panel on the upper chest area. This again looked expected and like aknock off of a typical man's suite. I think that he would have been better off with something else. Also, this look was not very well made and did not sit well on the model. Not Ken's best this week.

Miranda: Okay I 100% love the pattern that she used! It is so trendy right now and I really actually liked it with the green. However, nothing in this look was well made. I also did not really see where the bow tie fit it. I felt like she had so much potential with the fabric that she chose and it all went to waste because the look was just poorly sewn. Was it a typical pencil skirt...yes...but I think that would have been fine considering the pattern had she done a better job with the machine. On that note, I do not think that all hope is lost here.

Casandro: Okay I am going to talk fashion first attitude second. I get why the judges were not fans of this dress...there was a lot going on in it. However, I am always a sucker for more is more and I actually really liked this dress! He made a pink gown with the strapping in the bow tie. The dress was stunning as well as well made. In addition, it moved very well down the runway and really gave a fabulous presentation. I think that this dress should have been scored higher. Now his attitude on the other hand...that was not so wonderful. No one gets critiqued because they ask for it. You have to earn critique by being good or bad. He was out of line asking for it when he did and he was even more out of line knocking things over hitting the camera etc. That behavior is scary dangerous and I would have been terrified to have been one of the other designers in the room when he went off. Like first of all, no one has the right to speak like that and second, honey your on national TV ....do you really want to showcase that part of yourself?

Sue: HAHA okay I have one thing to say here..."I like to  be under the sea. In an cotupus' garden in the waves".

Okay that is everyone!! I hope you enjoyed this review and check back soon for more!!

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

The Prom Problem: Underwear (Clean)

Previously on the Prom Problem:  I talked about Bra's for Prom. All the special types that may be the best option for your dress. This Week: I thought that it would only be natural to talk about Underwear next. Underwear lines plague everyone at some point but prom is the last place that you want them to show up.Today we will be solving those nasty underwear lines.  I know that everyone has different opinions about sharing underwear secrets online because it is private I guess for some people, but honestly, I think that it is okay as long as your not doing anything inappropriate. I am just saying this to let you guys know that this post is totally clean so if your thinking "oh my gosh what is she going to show us?" Don't worry about it...you can keep reading. On that note, lets take a look at a few solutions to The Underwear Problem. Solution 1: Thongs I am going to talk about thongs first because I think that they are the most common solution for panty lines. ...

Special Post- Inner Beauty- The NJ Sharing Network

Hey guys! I have always intended for this blog to be totally dedicated to beauty and fashion, however, this post is going to be a bit different. Well, I mean, it does kind of fit because all the beauty on the outside does not matter if you are not a beautiful person on the inside (which I am sure that all of you are). Recently, my little sister (Linda) had a kidney transplant. She received her new kidney from an organization called the NJ Sharing Network. The NJ Sharing Network is an organization which connects donor families with recipients. I wanted to help give back to the organization that gave my little sister so much...so I created a team for their annual 5K run. My team is called Linda's Home Team. Last year, my team raised around $3000 dollars for the NJ Sharing Network. This year, we are hoping to surpass that. It would mean the world to me if you guys would follow the link below to my page and give a donation to my team. Every penny counts. I love all of my re...
