Men's Fashion in College

Hey guys! So this is a bit of a different post for me but a friend of mine was telling me how he was trying to figure out men's fashion in college so I decided to  do a post about it. One of the things that he mentioned was that he did not know what the ladies liked. Honestly, every girl is different and they like different looks on guys. Fashion is about expressing who you are, it is not about being who someone else wants you to be. So guy, be yourself. But if you are totally lost, here are a few suggestions for essentials that you can not go wrong with when trying to make your way through the college fashion scene.

Personally, I go to a VERY large school, so at a certain point, everyone has to sacrifice fashion for comfort. Lets be honest, nice shoes make you feel good, but they do not make your feet feel good when your walking upwards of two miles per day.  Of course, at a smaller school, some more fashionable shoes may be applicable but you can never go wrong with a good pair of sneakers.
A friend of mine made me look up these sneakers that he loved and the reviews for the brand are pretty good so I would recommend checking out the Nike Jordan Flight shoes. Obviously I am a girl so I have not tried them myself but I wouldn't recommend them to you if I did not trust him.

Jeans are not every guy's favorite...lets be honest, I hate them too. But they are a staple in college. Doing the wash in college is a royal pain. Jeans can be worn more than once before you have to wash them which delays having to do the wash which is fabulous. Everyone has their own preference with jeans so just go do a bit of shopping until you find the perfect fit...even if it is only one pair.

Alright, we have gone through shoes and pants...so that leaves shirt. Most of the guys I see around my campus usually wear T-Shirts. All kinds of T-Shirts, graphic, plain, school apparel, everything. School isn't a black tie event, so no need to feel compelled to majorly dress up. A T-Shirt looks put together and is practical. I would recommend staying away from shirts that have vulgar statements on them just because, honestly, it does not speak very highly of your character and you do not want to miss-represent yourself...especially if you are a freshman and do not know anyone yet.

As far as dress clothing goes, if you are involved in anything business oriented, I would suggest bringing up a pair of nice pants and a button up. Actually, I would suggest bring up that style outfit even if you are not in business. You never know when you are going to want/need to look a little bit nicer for an event. Along with that, I would bring up one matching pair of dress shoes. Obviously, they do not have to be black tie shoes, but just a nice dressy-casual pair to go along with your more polished look.

That is about it for my basic college menswear advise. I am working on putting together some more menswear and mens fashion posts in general and I am really excited to finally branch out into this area as it has been something that I have wanted to explore for you for a while. Below are some links to shop some of the items talked about in the post.

xoxo

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

Is The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Worth the Hype?

Hey Fashionista's! Today we are going to talk all about Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skincare line. This is not sponsored, I just really wanted to talk about these products. This semester in my public speaking class, I taught a unit all about persuasive speaking. My goal was to make the topic of persuasive speaking more relatable by showing how prevalent it is in our modern world. What was the product I brought in to show the power of persuasive speaking in the "influencer era"? You bet it was the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment. If you are a longtime reader, you know I rarely talk about skin care. Actually, I have probably never talked about skin care. That's because I don't really know what to say. I don't ever buy the trendy products because I am allergic to so many of them and if not, they make me break out. BUT Hailey Bieber got me- talk about effective persuasive speaking. I watched a few videos on YouTube of her using the products and talking about their ing...

Best Sustainable Brands of 2023

Hey Fashionistas! Recently, I have been trying to make better fashion/beauty choices for the environment so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. None of this is sponsored (although, if you're one of the brands I mentioned- hi and please feel free to reach out). Garnier: I wanted to start out with Garnier because they are not only an environmentally friendly brand but they are also my favorite beauty brand of all time. Garnier is a holy grail for me. I discovered this brand when they were featured on Project Runway many years ago and they completely changed my confidence. I use so many of their products on my hair: Mouse, Curl Cream, Hair Spray, Hair Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Conditioning Masks, etc.  Recently, I have switched from the traditional shampoo bottle to the shampoo bar and I am so glad that I did. I still get that Garnier glow to my hair while using less unnecessary plastics. Other Garner Fructis shampoo and conditioner bottles are made partly fr...
