The Prom Problem: 7 Deadly Sins of Prom

Previously on The Prom Problem: Dress Styles for 2015!

Hey guys! Welcome back to The Prom Problem! Today, we are going to talk about the seven deadly sins of Prom. If you have any 'deadly sins' to add to the list, comment down below and let me know! Lets get into it!

1.) Arriving Early To Pick Up Your Date
Yes, girls do mean the time they tell you to show up. We gotta get our hair, makeup, nails, and outfit done. It can be time consuming. I promise you, we will be using that whole afternoon off from school to get ready. If you show up early, we might not even have our dress on yet!

2.) Being the First Couple to Prom
ALL of the teachers and chaperons talk to the first couple. Not that talking to them is a bad thing, but it can be a bit awk. It is also a tad weird because you end up almost greeting your friends as they walk in. OH, and if press is coming to cover the event, you will totally miss out on that opportunity.

3.) Forgetting Deodorant
When your out on the dance floor, it can get a bit hot. You do not want to have stinky pits all night long. Just double check that you applied a nice amount of  deodorant before you leave.

4.) Tripping Down The "Walk Of Shame"
I do not know if your schools do this, but to get to the bus that took us to JProm, we had to walk down this huge path of parents and friends taking pictures etc. We called it the "walk of shame". Not that it was embarrassing, because it wasn't...unless you face planted. Be careful walking in those heels if you are going down the walk of shame. If you date is walking too fast, ask him to slow down, it okay.

5.) I See London I See France, I See All Your Underpants
Just make sure whatever undergarments you are in are not sticking out. Nothing is worse than a cute picture featuring your Spongebob's or your Victoria's Secrets.  If you need suggestions about what to wear under your dress or suite, check out my other posts in The Prom Problem series titled "Underwear (clean)" "Bras (clean)" and "Shape Wear, Stockings, and Mens Underwear (clean)".

6.) Wilted Flowers
When you pick up your flowers for your date, store them in the fridge until they arrive at your house. This will preserve them so that they stay looking fab all night long. I know a lot of people put on the corsage and boutonnière at pre-prom, but I recommend doing it before in your house. This way it does not have to travel around in the car and risk getting bumped around. Once its on, your good to go.

7.) Black Eyes
I recommend using waterproof eyeliner and mascara. Not because your going to cry (or at least I hope not!) But because it is a long night and waterproof mascara and eyeliner just stays on better and is less likely to give you black eyes.

xoxo

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

Is The Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment Worth the Hype?

Hey Fashionista's! Today we are going to talk all about Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skincare line. This is not sponsored, I just really wanted to talk about these products. This semester in my public speaking class, I taught a unit all about persuasive speaking. My goal was to make the topic of persuasive speaking more relatable by showing how prevalent it is in our modern world. What was the product I brought in to show the power of persuasive speaking in the "influencer era"? You bet it was the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment. If you are a longtime reader, you know I rarely talk about skin care. Actually, I have probably never talked about skin care. That's because I don't really know what to say. I don't ever buy the trendy products because I am allergic to so many of them and if not, they make me break out. BUT Hailey Bieber got me- talk about effective persuasive speaking. I watched a few videos on YouTube of her using the products and talking about their ing...

Best Sustainable Brands of 2023

Hey Fashionistas! Recently, I have been trying to make better fashion/beauty choices for the environment so I thought I would share some of my favorites with you. None of this is sponsored (although, if you're one of the brands I mentioned- hi and please feel free to reach out). Garnier: I wanted to start out with Garnier because they are not only an environmentally friendly brand but they are also my favorite beauty brand of all time. Garnier is a holy grail for me. I discovered this brand when they were featured on Project Runway many years ago and they completely changed my confidence. I use so many of their products on my hair: Mouse, Curl Cream, Hair Spray, Hair Gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Conditioning Masks, etc.  Recently, I have switched from the traditional shampoo bottle to the shampoo bar and I am so glad that I did. I still get that Garnier glow to my hair while using less unnecessary plastics. Other Garner Fructis shampoo and conditioner bottles are made partly fr...
