The Prom Problem: Prom Diets

Previously on The Prom Problem: Links to Past Episodes

Hey guys! Today I am going to be talking all about Prom diets. This is a post I debated doing, but I decided to go ahead with. Everyone talks about going on a "prom diet" in the spring. The real question is, are you going to go on a diet for your dress, and do your really need to go on a diet at all? I do not believe in never telling someone to go on a diet. Everyone knows what weight is healthy for them, and if they are over it, there is no shame in them saying "for me, I need to go on a diet". With that said, I am not at all telling any of you to actually go on a diet so that you will look good in your prom dress.

If you are feeling like you are a few pounds more than you normally are or than is healthy for you, then go ahead and start eating healthier and exercising more. Don't do it for Prom. Do it for yourself and for your health. You will look amazing in your dress whether you shed the extra pounds or not. The great thing about Prom dresses is that they almost always need to be altered, so you can have them edited to make you look your best at any weight. If you are going to go on a diet, and you know you will loose weight, hold off until closer to prom to get your dress altered. You do not want to have to pay for that twice. Like I said, there is nothing wrong with needing to loose a little weight. Everyone goes up and down in weight throughout your life. It is normal and it is perfectly okay to loose weight if that is what is healthy for you.

With that said, it is not healthy to loose weight just because it is Prom season. If you are at a healthy weight for yourself, then do not feel pressured into going on a diet to fit into your dress. I promise you, if you are at a healthy weight for yourself, you will look beautiful in your gown. You do NOT need to go on a diet because you think everyone else is. Normal is beautiful too. Please Please do not loose weight when you do not need to. Please believe in yourself and know that you are beautiful just the way you are because you are healthy and that is what is important.

If you are reading this and you are underweight, I did not forget about you! Everyone always focuses on how unhealthy it is to be overweight, but it is just as unhealthy to be underweight. If you feel like you need to gain some weight to be healthy, the time is now to do it. Not because Prom is coming up. Forget about Prom. Do it for yourself. Do it to make yourself a healthier person. If you do think you will be gaining weight before Prom, you too might want to hold off on the alterations because you too do not want to pay for them twice!

I want to address one thing now about the Prom Diet. Everyone talks about it. Everyone will say they are on one. Everyone will look at the FroYo they are eating and say "this is so not good for my Prom diet". Take it from someone who has been there, not all of those people are actually on a Prom diet. Actually, most of them aren't. Girls say that because they think everyone else is on a diet so they should look healthy too. All of the girls in my grade talked about it, and 95% of them did not look any different at Prom than they normally did. 95% of them did not eat any differently at lunch during Prom season than they normally did. Do not take the phrase "I'm on a diet for Prom" too seriously. Do not think that means you should go on a diet too. If you do not need a diet for you, do not go on one.

Bottom line, if you need to loose or gain weight for your health, do it. Do not do it because of a dress that will not matter anymore in a few months. Do it for you. If you are at a healthy weight, do not feel pressured into going on a diet an becoming an unhealthy weight. Do what is best for you personally and your health. I promise you, not everyone is dieting. Bottom line. You are beautiful just the way you are, and a dress is not worth your health.

Best Fit: How to Start Your Fitness Journey

"Best Fit" Let's start our fitness journey! Incorporating fitness into your daily life is difficult. Life is full of wonderful things to do and it can be hard to prioritize being healthy. Today we are going to jump right in and start incorporating fitness into our daily lives.  *Disclaimer: I am neither a fitness expert nor a doctor. Before beginning your fitness journey, check with your medical professionals to make sure you are physically healthy enough to complete any activities suggested. 1. Pick a time of day for your workout: Picking a time of day is a great first step in starting a healthier lifestyle. Putting it on your calendar (maybe even setting up a reminder notice) will help you hold yourself accountable. It will also remind you that you have set aside time that day to go to the gym so you do not double book yourself.  Personally, I prefer to work out in the late afternoon/ea

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers who
