Where Have I Been? Let's Catch Up.

Hey Fashionistas. Long time no talk... I know. If you are still here, seriously, thank you. If you are new here (also thank you) and I'lll catch you up to speed.

New? Let's Catch Up:
I began this blog 2012 when I was in High School. High School!
What was my inspiration?
Like most young fashion/beauty creators, I was seeking connection. I had free period/study hall and in 2012, had no friends in my section. I always loved writing and had recently discovered "Beauty Gurus" on social media. I decided to give my hand at connecting to others through fashion/beauty writing.
  • The 2010s were the height of the "Beauty Guru" market on social media.
    • On this site, I talked about getting dressed for Prom, Favorite Products, etc.
  • I also did Recap Reviews of the TV show Project Runway because I absolutely loved it. I ended up having my Recap Reviews included on the Blogging the Project Runway site and really enjoyed my experience collaborating with them.
  • During college, I started to feel disconnected from my High School content and I was in good company. Many other content creators in the "Beauty Guru" space started to change their brands or leave the internet  due basically to growing up. I decided to take a year off from blogging and see if the inspiration struck again. One year turned into two, into three, into four, etc. I always thought I would return one day- because the inspiration for this blog was really creative writing and connection- and I missed it. Sometimes, I would dip my feet back in, but I really wasn't sure what I was going to do with this site.
I also learned a lot about how to run a blog/brand as I majored in Public Relations & Psychology and then went on to get a Masters Degree in Strategic Communication.

Modern Day:
A lot has happened in my life over the past few years and in time, I will share more. I never really "unmasked" my identity on here because I was really young and not read to do so. But, I think it's time.
  • I still want this site to live in the fashion world but  a bit different than before.
  •  I am currently finishing my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership and want to share some educator content, along with more about my brand new non-profit organization.
Ultimately, this site is still about fashion, beauty, creative writing and connection. I hope this space can still be a place where we can find community and I am looking forward to talking to you more soon.

I missed you.

xoxo ~FashionistaForward5~

Project Runway 10-15-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers gave members of the Project Runway crew a makeover. Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review! We are getting closer and closer to fashion week each episode and the competition is getting tight. At this point, any of the designers could go home. Last week was packed with drama...but...its a new week, and a fresh slate, so lets get started. Challenge: The five remaining designers will make an outfit inspired by the New York City bridges (Queensborough, Brooklyn, Manhattan). The designers were assigned a bridge from the black bag of doom. Each designer created a textile with a 3-D printer that they had to incorporate into their garment. This is an Avant Garde challenge. Thoughts In The Workroom:  I'm not so sure what I think about 3-D printers...comment down below and let me know what you think about them (in general, not just in fashion). Candice made a good choice not using black again this week. Designers wh...

Project Runway 10-26-15 Final Part 1 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers created a Red Carpet look. Thoughts in the Workroom: I knew Edmond would get the save!! Edmond really did deserve it. Not coming in prepaired must put on so much pressure. Candice's red and white pants are SO cute! Wait, Ashley what is that stain remover stuff? I need that. Challenge: The designers will show the judges three looks from their collection for feedback. One of those looks would be created from scratch, in the workroom . Guest Judge: No one this week. Home Visits From Tim : Ashley: Tim visited Ashley's hometown where she revealed her Mexican heritage. Ashley is creating a plus sized collection. I think that it is awesome that she is going for it. There is such a need for quality, fashionable, plus-sized clothing. Ashley's mother supported her vision stating the importance of Ashley's vision. Tim praised Ashley for her innovation with her floral headpieces, however, he warned her that the judges may cal...

Project Runway 10-8-15 Recap Review

Previously on Project Runway: The designers had to create an outfit tailored to the specific styles of the JustFab customer. The winning designer's look is being sold on JustFab.com Hey guys! Welcome to this week's Project Runway Recap Review. I just wanted to start out by saying that I absolutely love this challenge! The Project Runway Crew has worked so hard to bring us fans this amazing show for fourteen seasons. Without the crew, there would be no Project Runway. The crew 100% deserves some designer love! I think the annual "real women" challenge is so important. Project Runway is a platform for the designers to put their work out there. The "real women" challenge allows fans/customers with all different body types to see how the designer's aesthetics might look on them. Challenge: The designers will be treating members of the Project Runway Crew to a custom outfit. Thoughts In The Workroom: Raincoat? Unique. The outfit Ashley is wearing is so...
